Cân y melinydd

Mae gen i dŷ cysurus
a melin newydd sbon,
a thair o wartheg blithion
yn pori ar y fron.

Cytgan:
Weli di, weli di, Mari fach
Weli di, Mari annwyl.

Mae gen i drol a cheffyl
a merlyn bychan twt
a deg o ddefaid tewion
a mochyn yn y cwt.

Mae gen i gwpwrdd cornel
a'i lond o lestri te,
a dresal yn y gegin
a phopeth yn ei le.

Mae gen i ebol melyn
yn codi'n bedair oed,
 phedair pedol arian
o dan ei bedwar troed.

Fe neidia ac fe brancia
o dan y feinir wen,
Fe reda ugain milltir
heb dynnu'r ffrwyn o'i ben.

Mae gen i iâr a cheiliog,
a buwch a mochyn tew
a rhwng y wraig a minnau,
wy'n ei gwneud hi yn o lew'.

Fe aeth yr iâr i rodio,
i Arfon draw mewn dig
a daeth yn ôl un diwrnod
a'r Wyddfa yn ei phig.

The Miller's Song

I have a comfortable house
and a brand new mill,
and three milking cows
grazing on the hill.

Chorus:
Can you see, can you see, little Mary
Can you see, dear Mary.

I have a horse and cart
and a pretty little pony
and ten fat sheep
and a pig in the sty.

I have a corner cupboard
which is full of tea sets,
and a dresser in the kitchen
and everything in it's place.

I have a golden colt
coming up to four years old,
With four silver horseshoes
under his four feet.

He jumps and prances
under the fair maiden,
He runs twenty miles
without pulling bridle from his head.

I have a hen and cockerel,
and a cow and a fat pig
and between the wife and me,
I know I'm doing quite well.

The chicken went for a stroll,
over to Arfon, in anger
and came back one day
with Snowdon in his beak.

Amdanom

Fel siaradwr ail iaith gyda phlentyn bach, sylweddolais na wyddem y geiriau na’r tonau i’r hwiangerddi Cymraeg. Bu rhaid i mi eu ddysgu gair am air a nodyn wrth nodyn oddi wrth fy ngwraig amyneddgar, tra bod hi’n canu i'm merch fach. Rwy’n siwr nad wyf ar fy hun yn y sefyllfa yma, felly creuais i’r wefan yma i geisio helpu fy hun ac eraill.

I built this website because (as a second language Welsh speaker) I neither know the words nor the tunes to any Welsh language nursery rhymes, and am learning them slowly and painfully from my wonderful and patient wife as we sing them to my wonderful daughter. Thank you both for your patience with your tone deaf father / husband, and I hope this resource helps some others out there in my position.
