The little frog
A little frog went out to walk,
on the back of his stallion and his neat saddle,
who caught his eye but a mouse.
The little frog said affectionately,
“Would you be a wife to a knight?”
“What kind of advantage will we have from this venture?”
“Dressing up grandly like the wife of a merchant,
you will have plenty of pearls in your parlour.”
“I’d rather have the outfit of little grey hairs.”
“I will give you meat to eat,
you will have plenty of wine and mead.”
“I would rather try some cheese.”
“That’s it, I’m done with trying,
you are very difficult to please.”
“Cheese and bread are my pleasures.”
